Celebrating the life of

Vincent John Ferraro, Jr.

Passed away on August 29, 2023

Vincent John Ferraro, Jr.

Vincent John Ferraro, Jr., 89, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 29, 2023. Vincent was born August 7, 1934, in Savannah, GA to the late Vincent John Ferraro, Sr., and Caroline Anderson Ferraro. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen Broderick Ferraro, his son, David Andrew Ferraro, and his sister, Carolyn Ann Roush. Vincent was a family man and one of the most resilient and easy-going individuals you could ever meet.

Vincent attended Cathedral Day School, Benedictine Military School (Class of 1952), and Georgia Institute of Technology. He remained an avid Yellow Jacket fan throughout his life with a passion for following Georgia Tech. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist. For over 15 years, Vincent was very active within the Blessed Sacrament community most notably coaching the boys’ basketball team, alongside Helen coaching the girls, where they boasted numerous championship seasons and made lasting impressions on the lives of many. He loved sharing stories and memories from these years with family, friends, and former players.

During his professional career, Vincent worked for Savannah Shipyard for over 30 years, retiring as Vice President and Chief Estimator, and he later was co-owner of Southern Ship and Industrial Repair. His work afforded him the opportunity to meet individuals from all over the world and form lifelong friendships. He was a proud member of the Savannah Yacht Club since 1986 where he enjoyed family time, socializing with friends, and coastal living. Helen and Vincent could be found most every Saturday night dining at SYC and enjoying the evening together at their favorite table.

Vincent is survived by his daughter, Terry Schwartz (Bobby), two sons, Vincent J. Ferraro III (Rose Marie), and Joseph Ferraro (Traci), and brother-in-law, Michael Roush, Sr. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Anna Salter (Jonathan), Katie Danielowski (Connor), Gabriella Ferraro, and Reid Ferraro, two great-grandsons, William David Salter, and John Barber Danielowski, and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial immediately following at Bonaventure Cemetery. A candle has been lit!

- Vincent Powers , Savannah , Georgia

I would like to offer my condolences to family of Vincent. Vincent and I were classmates at BC and GT. Vincent was a wonderful friend although our paths took in different directions as I moved to Florida after the Army. We have not seen each other for many years, I treasure the time we spent together. May his soul rest in peace.
